Dear Customers,
When I was in the sixth grade at Smethport Elementary, in the spring of 1966, I was picked to sing in County Choir which was held at Port Allegany that year. Being that the venue was so close, we didn’t stay overnight, but we were each given a host family where we spent the late afternoon after practice and prior to the show on Saturday night.
One of the selections chosen for us to perform was “June is Busting Out All Over”, from the 1956 Rogers and Hammerstein musical, Carousel. I still remember most of the song, even though it was 60 years ago! The very first line begins, “March went out like a lion, a whippin’ up the water in the bay”! From there the song eventually arrived, several lines later, to the popular chorus which also happens to be the title of the song!
That last paragraph is apropos of nothing, except I think of that opening line every time March rolls around, particularly when driving past Hamlin Lake on a windy day! In merely a week, we will be blessed with April; April showers (rain and/or snow), April flowers, April mud, and by the end of the month – the sound of lawn mowers firing up all around the neighborhood.
Sunday at the end of this week is Palm Sunday – exactly a week away from Easter. As she did back during Valentine’s Day, my wife, our floral guru, has ordered in a ton of Easter plants, bouquets and assorted holiday items.
In addition to assorted bouquets, we’ll have bulbs, African violets, azaleas, tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, floral planters, hydrangeas, and Easter lilies of several types. Shop the entire display and bring a little bit of Spring to your house!
I even ordered some Easter crosses made from palm fronds. All those items in the paragraph above were pre-ordered. This new company has been very good about filling our orders so you should have a delightful assortment to choose from!
