WEEK #24 JUNE 9th-15th, 2025

Dear Customers,

Sunday of this week, June 15th, we celebrate Father’s Day.  Speaking as a father of some 50 years, I don’t think our “big” day gets the attention that Mother’s Day garners but that’s just the way it is.  I made my peace with the disparity long ago!  After all, when the sideline cameras spot a player who’s just made a big play, he flashes a toothy grin and mouths the words, “hi Mom” to the camera.  I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a single one shout out to his Dad on national television!

What I fail to understand is why some people have a poor or even non-existent relationship with their father.  My Dad was my role model and the man I turned to whenever I had a concern or a problem.   He just had a way of talking calmly, imparting wisdom and making every difficulty seem less daunting.

I have a friend of many years who never had a nice word to say of his father and spent his adult life avoiding the man.  Then, on his deathbed, the father reached out to him, and they were finally able to reconcile.  What a waste of an entire lifetime – two of them actually!

If you are among the lucky ones who still have your father with them, rejoice!  Most fathers aren’t flashy dressers, we tell bad jokes, and we often apply the brakes to anything smacking of fun.  But it’s not for any other reason than our concern for you!  You don’t understand it now, while you’re young, but someday you will be hit with the realization that “Dear Old Dad” wasn’t as wrong as you always assumed he was!

I liken a father to the furnace in your basement.  He provides comfort, heat and he’s there around the clock – whenever needed.  You probably don’t even notice him – until he’s no longer there. . .

We will have a full selection of steaks, ribs, roasts, chops and burgers available for Dad this weekend.  He doesn’t want another tie, or some stinky cologne.  Why not give him what he wants?  Its spelled M*E*A*T!
