Dear Customers,
At one time there were several florists in and around Smethport and the neighboring towns. But, as was too often the case, many businesses were unable to withstand the ravages of Covid19 and the resultant pandemic. One need only look around at the number of restaurants in the area (and the country) that were seemingly doing well and suddenly – were no more! It was a combination of supply chain issues (not being able to get what they ordered) and staffing problems. (not just finding the right people – but any people!)
On the near horizon is a holiday that often gets ignored until it’s too late! I’m speaking of Valentine’s Day arriving in a little more than two weeks! Unless you’re in a new, torrid romance, where your sweetheart is pretty much all you can think of, celebrating a holiday which is based on greeting cards, candy and flowers easily slips our minds. And, it usually slips our minds right up to and including the actual day, February 14th!
It’s quite comical to watch husbands, boyfriends and just those who want someday to become either . . . rush in here on Valentine’s Day and leave with a bouquet or potted plant. Way back in early December, my wife carefully perused the catalog of flower assortments available for Valentine’s Day with even more than her usual intensity.
For two reasons. One, she didn’t want to run out and leave some love-sick fool in the doghouse with his sweetie . . . and more importantly, we were ordering from the new Robesonia warehouse for the first time, and they were offering a much larger variety than had ever been available to us before! So when mid-afternoon hits and you suddenly realize you didn’t get anything for your “wife-sweetheart-significant other”, pop in to Costa’s floral department. We’ve got your back!
