WEEK #6 FEBRUARY 9th-15th VALENTINE’S DAY

Dear Customers,

Saturday of this week is the one-day holiday reserved for lovers!  Then maybe if not serious enough to be lovers, perhaps close friends, “more” than acquaintances, or hopefully, soon-to-be sweeties!

The origin of Valentine’s Day is in some conflict.  One legend has it that Valentine was a priest who secretly married couples to prevent the husband from having to go off to war.  This was in blatant disobedience of the emperor’s orders to the contrary.  For his troubles, Valentine was beheaded and became a martyr for lovers everywhere.

Valentine’s Day only falls on a Saturday once every six or so years.  In fact, Valentine’s Day and Saturday are not scheduled to coincide again until the year 2032!  For that reason alone, you ought to take steps to celebrate it this year.  As I mentioned a few weeks ago, we have ordered in a beautiful and delightful assortment of Valentine’s Day flowers.  In fact, though we generally order flowers on a monthly basis, our warehouse felt it important enough to provide a dedicated order form for Valentine’s Day alone!

In addition to the roses of all colors, available in quantities from a single rose up to a dozen, we’ll have many assorted types of bouquets, as well as the harbinger of spring, the beautiful tulip.   While we normally order two or three different types of flowers and bouquets on our weekly deliveries, for this special day we have 25 cases of Valentine’s flowers and bouquets on order!

So even if you forgot till the last possible second, we ought to be able to bail you out – making you look like the thoughtful and loving husband/boyfriend everyone knew you were!         PS: we’re open till 8pm!
