Dear Customers,
“Déjà vu”, loosely translated from the French means “already seen”. It’s described as “a fleeting sensation of having already lived an identical situation at some point in the past”! We’ve all felt it at some point but Yogi Berra, the hall of fame Yankees catcher described it thusly; “it’s like déjà vu all over again!”
So if you’re looking at this week’s 4th of July ad, and get a sensation of “already seen”, it’s because you have. Just as they did at Thanksgiving and again at Christmas, the people who write our ad plans chose to run a 2-week ad for the nation’s 250th birthday!
While the ads are not completely identical, by and large most of the same items will be on sale for a second week. I do give my department heads the option of adding or subtracting items as they see fit – perhaps to take advantage of a great holiday price or to showcase a product that just arrived.
At any rate, we will be open with our normal operating hours, not taking any additional time off for the actual holiday. And that stems from the conversation I have had with each prospective employee I have ever hired. Just in case they’re inclined to ‘call in sick’ to enjoy a holiday weekend I always tell them up front, before they even start work, “we’re at our absolute busiest when everyone else is off having a good time – so if that’s going to be a problem for you, perhaps you might want to rescind your application!” I’ve never had anyone admit that it’s going to be a problem, but I have had several for which it turned out to be!
Costa’s Supermarket will be open from 7am-9pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (July 2nd-4th) and from 8am – 9pm on Sunday, July 5th. We’ll be fully stocked on all your picnic needs including the freshest meats, the most delectable baked goods, the freshest produce as well as a full assortment of wines and beers.
HAPPY 250th BIRTHDAY, AMERICA!
