From the time I was a little boy, whenever I’d hear Christmas carols, I’d start getting really excited for the holiday! It was probably because Christmas was right around the corner! Sixty years ago, you never heard Christmas music on the radio until December! Now, kids are going door-to-door for Halloween and satellite radio is already blaring out 20 distinctive channels of festive tunes.
I remember hearing Bing Crosby crooning the words to “White Christmas” in that soft buttery voice of his. To me, as suggested by that song, if it didn’t snow for Christmas, it just wasn’t, well, Christmas! Since those days, I’ve come to the realization that Christmas comes every year, no matter the precipitation, the temperature or the million or so little aggravations that come along with it!
As we near the end of this week, the excitement and chaos intensifies. No doubt, you’ll find yourself with more to do than you have days in which to do it. Costa’s Supermarket, as we always are, will be available for your shopping convenience right up until 5pm on Saturday, Christmas Eve, December 24th. Then, employing a tradition started by my father some 72 years ago, both the supermarket and the hardware will close for the entire day on Christmas Day. It’s one of the only two full days we are closed each year, the other being Easter Sunday.
Shop our extensive collection, pick up a fruit basket or a deli tray and peruse the display of beautiful holiday flowers and plants we have on hand. We are you one necessary stop to ensure that your holiday will be merry and bright – and filled with delicious things to eat!
