Much like Ralphie’s dad in “The Christmas Story”, himself a self-proclaimed ‘turkey junkie’, I am undoubtedly a “Christmas junkie”! From the time I was old enough to walk, I’ve been thrilled with the entire month of December; the brightly colored lights, the sweet delicacies, and of course the gaily wrapped gifts hiding on the top shelf of my mother’s closet!
You won’t see any skeletons, blow-up spiders or fake cobwebs adorning my house for Halloween. . . but Christmas is an entirely different matter. Every year I get set to decorate a little earlier, (you know, while it’s still decent weather), but my wife reins me in at every opportunity. In her family, December 14th was time enough to begin thinking about maybe getting a tree for the living room. Hah! By then my tree was already losing its needles!
