MOTHER’S DAY! The very words evoke memories, emotions and gratitude! Yes, there is also Father’s Day next month in June, but it has never held the status or importance that Mother’s Day does. Most people grow up loving and respecting their father, but few people hold him in as high a regard as they do “good old mom”.
Perhaps its because of the bond that developed in the womb, or the fact that she probably did the lion’s share of rearing and nurturing during the formative years, but there must be some reason why athletes always mouth the words, “HI MOM” anytime a camera gets shoved in their faces!
How do we let our mothers know how important they are to us? Why with a phone call, a card, a home-cooked meal or perhaps even a dinner out. One of the most popular and appreciated gestures of maternal homage is a beautiful potted plant or fresh bouquet of flowers.
Heather has taken care of the selection and assortment of all things floral this Mother’s Day! I just checked her order (which she filled out back in March) and there are some 19 different bouquets on order to arrive the week before Mother’s Day. In addition, there are more than a dozen different potted plant offerings in the offing!
And as we did last year, we also ordered even more of the large front porch RACK OFFERINGS that contain tomato plants, patio pots, Knockout Rose bushes, hanging baskets, and Welcome Planters. Any (or several) of these would make a wonderful Mother’s Day gift for Mom, Grandma or even a favorite Aunt!
We should have plenty of everything but as is always the case, the early bird gets their pick so don’t wait until the last minute! You’d be surprised at how many people (predominantly husbands and sons) who do wait until Sunday!
